Digital Printing Directly onto the Product

Increasing product variety, personalization, smaller batch sizes and shorter time-to-market are changing the requirements for packaging, decoration and production.

Hinterkopf’s industrial Direct-to-Shape Digital Printing technology addresses these requirements by printing the image digitally and directly onto the cylindrical container.

 

The key advantage: the container itself remains the base material. No additional label or other decoration medium is required. Different designs, personalized content and variable data can be applied directly to the same base product.

As a digital process, Direct-to-Shape Printing also eliminates the need for printing plates and the associated costs. Design changes can be implemented without time-consuming plate changes and extensive make-ready procedures, providing greater flexibility, particularly when producing multiple variants and changing designs.

Personalization goes one step further: individual print data can be visualized as a 3D representation directly in the machine HMI. This allows operators to preview the individual design on the cylindrical product before printing.
